MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS


The obvious benefit of membership in the Marine Corps League
Greater Bangor Detachment is to enjoy the camaraderie that we
who are Marines share. More importantly, as Marines we were
taught from day-one to seek leadership responsibilities. As
members of the Greater Bangor Detachment we demonstrate our
commitment to that principal through self-example in our local
community, and by supporting our fellow Marines and worthwhile
activities within the Greater Bangor area

 

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP


Regular membership in the Marine Corps League Greater Bangor
Area Detachment is open to those whose service is characterized
as one or more of the following conditions: Currently serving or
served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty for a
period not less than ninety (90) days; Currently serving or served
honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and have earned no
less than ninety (90) Reserve Retirement Credits; Currently serving r served honorably as a U.S. Navy Corpsman who has trained with
Marine FMF units in excess of ninety (90) days and who has earned the Marine Corps Device or the Warfare device authorized for wear
on the Service Ribbon. Some Korean War Era Marines  who were
ordered to active duty prior to completing Recruit Training or
Officers Training and subsequently received an Honorable
Discharge prior to completion of (90) days active or reserve duty,
shall be deemed eligible for Regular Membership. The Greater
Bangor Area Detachment #1151, Marine Corps  League shall be the
sole judge of its membership providing said person meets the
requirements of Article Six, Section 600. The Detachment however
or any misdemeanor conviction currently in any court of
competent jurisdiction. The Detachment may accept as
members any person whose name has been stricken from the
rolls of the Marine Corps League by the Department or National
Organization.


 

ASSOCIATE MEMBER


Associate Membership Restrictions The following restrictions apply
for those accepted as associate members may not hold elective
office; Associate members may not cast votes in matters regarding
the election of officers or membership applications. Associate
members will be permitted to cast votes per the discretion of the
Detachment Commandant  on matters regarding Detachment affairs,
provided such matters do not impact a policy of the Marine Corps League;
Associate members will not wear any uniform items that are prohibited
from wearing by the current Marine Corps League uniform regulations.


HONORARY MEMBER


The Detachment may issue honorary membership to those
persons who have been of extraordinary service to the Nation, the community, the United States Marine Corps or the Marine Corps
League, as defined by the National By-Laws Article 6, Section 600C.


LIFE MEMBER


Any member who is in good standing for a period of one year

may become a Life Member of the Marine Corps League, upon  proper payment of the fee as established by the National Convention.
